Affordability & Tax Relief
-
I support tax relief for the people who need it: our working families, seniors, and small business owners. Not the 1% and big corporations.
-
I support doubling the Homestead Exemption to $50,000. This would give needed relief to the most vulnerable homeowners. I also support a 25% increase to the income threshold from $40,000 to $50,000.
-
I support reinstating a progressive income tax on Ohio’s 1%. This would bring in approximately $3 billion a year to fund programs for the working people of Ohio and Mahoning County.
-
Ohio’s 1% consists of 61,000 filers who make well over $400K per year. On average, the Republican-controlled legislature gave them over $50,000 in tax cuts over the last 20 years while working families and seniors have been left behind. It’s time we had fully funded programs that benefit all of us, not just those at the top.
-
-
I will work with county officials and state legislators to push for fair taxes on income and property of Ohio’s largest corporations to reduce the burden our homeowners and small farmers shoulder to fund our communities. We should not be forced to rely on levies and county sales taxes to fund our communities!
Community Engagement & Accessibility
-
My several years of experience working in local government means that I know what it means when your government meets you where you are and asks what it can do for you.
-
As your next Mahoning County Auditor, I will make sure the office has an employee go to every community in Mahoning County throughout the year to help residents navigate the programs and services in the Auditor’s office.
-
Right now, if you want help from the Auditor, you need to call or come to the office to get that help. Driving from one end of the county to the other and searching for a parking spot in downtown Youngstown should not be required to talk with an experienced employee. I will make it easier for you to get the help you need!
-
-
Maintain a fully staffed office to meet your needs when you come to the office and when we are out in the field working with the public and businesses.
-
I will work with the County Dog Warden and all stakeholders to review dog licensing to make it easier and more accessible.
-
I will explore adjusting the licensing schedule to correspond with a dog’s birthday or, when unavailable, adoption or rescue date to make it easier to license your dog on time and avoid a late fee, just like a drivers license.
-
Spreading out licensing will help dog owners avoid licensing in the depths of winter every year.
-
Defending & Respecting the Will of the People
-
At the end of 2025, the Republican-controlled Ohio Legislature and Governor passed House Bill 309 which gave more authority to County Budget Commissions (CBC) to overrule the will of the people when funding their communities by reducing levy income.
-
The Auditor is one of the three members on the CBC, and I will not vote to reduce a levy that the people of any community in Mahoning County voted for without the request of that community.
-
I will work with elected officials around Mahoning County and Ohio to pressure the legislature to amend or repeal this law.
-
Property Taxes
-
I oppose the effort to abolish property taxes in Ohio. Property taxes are a major source of funding for our schools, libraries, local governments, and services like water and sewer, roads, fire, police, and emergency response. The Republican agenda to abolish property taxes would cripple police, fire, and emergency services, defund our infrastructure for roads and bridges, and destroy public education. This is not the legacy we should leave to our children.
-
I will make sure the Auditor’s Office communicates clearly and transparently when property is assessed for its tax value. Every resident and business owner should be able to plan their future without dreading their property tax bill.
Making Good Investments
-
I will review Mahoning County’s investment portfolio to ensure our tax dollars do not fund violence at home or abroad.
-
Work to end the $750,000 of Israel bonds and any other bonds investing in foreign companies or governments held by Mahoning County. This money should be used to improve the lives of people in Mahoning County, not foreign governments and companies that are not invested and present in our county.
Protecting Mahoning County’s Tax Dollars
-
The Auditor is the safeguard and watchdog of Mahoning County’s tax dollars. I will bring new energy to the office to protect our money so it can be put to work for YOU!
-
I know how important it is to be a trusted keeper of your money so it’s there when you need it. I will bring my current experience working at a local credit union to the Auditor’s Office so you know I see the people behind the money in every decision I make.
Public Service
-
I have several years experience working in local government and will bring that knowledge to the Auditor’s Office.
-
I met with neighborhood associations and local non-profits to address their needs and build their relationship with local government.
-
I administered and monitored federal grant funds to non-profits to ensure they carried out their mission to serve the community.
-
Make the services of the Auditor more accessible to the people of Mahoning County.
-
Ensure accuracy of weights and measures around Mahoning County, from gas pumps to produce scales, from the meat counter to the register, so nobody is overcharged for the things they need. We don’t need to be fleeced by another Walmart weight scandal.
